The name “Polytrope” comes from πολuτροπον, the hard-to-translate description of Odysseus that Emily Wilson memorably discusses in this interview.

It means something like “much-turning,” and that’s what this newsletter is – multi-faceted, hard to pin down, looking at things from many angles.

This newsletter is also extremely loose, and makes no efforts to produce polished work. You might see the occasional movie review, chess match, or late-night rant on here.
